In depth

An SEO audit is a top-to-bottom health check of your website. It finds the technical, content, and link problems that keep your pages from ranking, then sorts them by impact so you know exactly what to fix first instead of guessing.

Think of it like a car inspection. The point isn't a long list of faults, it's leaving with a short, ordered plan: do this, then this, and ignore that.

What an SEO audit checks

A thorough audit covers three areas:

  • Technical health. Can search engines crawl and index your pages? Are any blocked by a stray noindex tag? Is the site fast on mobile, free of broken links, and served over HTTPS?
  • On-page quality. Do your titles and meta descriptions earn clicks? Does each page actually answer the query it targets? Is there a clear heading structure?
  • Off-page authority. Who links to you, and are those backlinks from sites worth trusting?

Most of the raw data is free. Google Search Console shows which pages are indexed and which queries you already appear for, and Google's own SEO documentation explains what each signal means.

How to run one

  1. Crawl the whole site to map every page and catch broken links and redirect loops.
  2. Check Search Console coverage for pages that should be indexed but aren't (and the reverse).
  3. Review your highest-traffic pages for intent match, titles, and on-page issues.
  4. Look at your backlink profile for both strength and anything spammy.

Turning an audit into results

An audit only pays off when you act on it. Score each issue by impact and effort, then start with the high-impact, low-effort wins, broken canonical tags, missing titles, a fast page-speed fix, before the slow structural work.

That prioritization is exactly what most small businesses don't have time for. Edward runs a free audit of your site, surfaces the issues that actually move rankings, and then fixes and publishes the content to address them. If you'd rather see the plans first, here's pricing.
