15. Meta Platform Integration (Facebook, Instagram, Threads)
This section consolidates disclosures specific to the Meta Platforms integration so they are easy to find for users and for Meta App Review. It supplements, and does not supersede, the rest of this Privacy Policy. Capitalized terms such as "Platform Data", "Process", and "User" are used as defined in the Meta Platform Terms.
15.1 What we collect from Meta
When you connect a Meta account to Edward, we receive the following Platform Data, scoped to the permissions you grant on the Meta consent screen:
public_profile— your Facebook user ID, name, and profile picture URL. Used to render the "logged in as" UI inside Edward so you can confirm which account you connected.pages_show_list— the list of Facebook Pages you administer (Page ID and name). Used to let you choose which Page to publish to.pages_manage_posts,pages_read_engagement— Page access tokens, the IDs of posts Edward publishes on your behalf, and basic engagement counts (likes, comments, shares) on those posts only. Used to publish and to report back to you on the performance of posts Edward made.instagram_basic,instagram_content_publish— your Instagram Business or Creator account ID, username, profile picture URL, and the IDs of posts Edward publishes on your behalf. Used to publish article previews to your Instagram account.threads_basic,threads_content_publish— your Threads user ID, username, and the IDs of posts Edward publishes on your behalf. Used to publish article previews to your Threads account. Threads is also governed by the Threads Supplemental Privacy Policy and Threads Terms of Use.
We do not request any permission beyond those listed above. If we add new permissions in the future, this section will be updated and you will be asked to re-consent on the Meta consent screen.
15.2 Purpose
We Process the Platform Data above for these and only these purposes:
- Identify which Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, or Threads account to post to.
- Render the "logged in as" UI inside Edward so you can confirm and manage the connected account.
- Publish each article you generate in Edward — comprising the article link, cover image, and the caption Edward writes for you — to the connected account.
- Show you basic engagement counts on the posts Edward published, so you can see how those posts performed.
These purposes match, and do not exceed, what we describe in our Meta App Review submission.
15.3 What we do NOT do
- We do not read your news feed, friends list, followers list, direct messages, ads, audience insights, or any content posted by users other than you.
- We do not sell, license, or purchase Platform Data.
- We do not use Platform Data to train AI or machine-learning models.
- We do not share Platform Data with third-party advertisers, ad networks, data brokers, analytics providers, or marketing services.
- We do not send Platform Data to the third-party service providers listed in Section 4.1 — it stays on Edward infrastructure.
15.4 Retention
We retain Platform Data only as long as necessary for the legitimate business purpose of posting on your behalf, consistent with Section 3.d.i of the Meta Platform Terms.
- Access tokens are stored encrypted at rest.
- We delete Platform Data when: you disconnect the Meta integration, you close your Edward account, Meta requests deletion, or the data is no longer needed for the purposes in Section 15.2.
- Deletion completes within 7 days of the trigger event, including from routine backups.
15.5 Deleting your Meta data
You can remove the Platform Data Edward holds about you in any of three ways:
- In Edward (recommended). Sign in and go to Settings → Integrations → Meta → Disconnect. We revoke the access tokens at Meta and purge associated Platform Data (Page lists, account IDs, profile fields, cached engagement metrics) from our primary store and backups within 7 days. Posts Edward previously published to your account remain on your account — we never delete content you own on Meta.
- By email. Write to [email protected] from the email address on your Edward account and ask us to delete your Meta data. We respond within 7 days and complete deletion within that window.
- From Meta directly. Go to Facebook → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, find Edward, and tap Remove. (For Instagram and Threads, use the equivalent "Apps and Websites" / "Connected Apps" screens.) Removing the app at Meta immediately revokes our access; we then delete remaining Platform Data within 7 days.
This URL — https://meetedward.com/privacy-policy#meta-deletion — is the Data Deletion Instructions URL registered with the Meta App Dashboard.
15.6 Compliance with Meta Platform Terms
Edward Processes Platform Data in accordance with the Meta Platform Terms and Meta Developer Policies. Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to supersede, modify, or be inconsistent with those terms; in the event of any conflict regarding Platform Data, the Meta Platform Terms control.
For questions specific to the Meta integration, contact [email protected].
